Laguna House, Costa Rica by Tribù

In Dominical on the south coast of Puntarenas in Costa Rica, the views are everything. At nearby Uvita, two crescent beaches meet in a whale’s tail while inland, tropical forests rise up lush and brilliant green.

When they commissioned Laguna House as a holiday retreat, the owners asked interior designers Lucia Esquivel and Andrea Mora of Natural Instinct to furnish five terraces to capture every aspect of the landscape and sea views. The terrace spaces gave the duo the chance to play with different Tribù collections, creating distinct moods and settings for lounging, dining and peaceful moments.

“The owner wanted a house with a relaxed look and high quality furniture. He chose to mix designer furniture with local furniture pieces,” explains Andrea. For the perfect sunset views, the gorgeous Tosca sofa not only makes a strong design statement, but is the ideal choice to snuggle up on.

Eating outside with their children requires a long table that is as smart as it is durable, so Andrea chose a Mirthe dining table, paired with light and comfortable Nodi armchairs. “We love the Tribù collections,” she says, “but an additional reason Natural Instinct chose collections like Nodi, Natal Alu and Illum is that the powder-coated aluminium is very weather resistant and works really well in the tropical, humid climate of Costa Rica.”

The deep, indulgent cushions on a Natal Alu sofa, teamed with inviting Mood club chairs, are also perfect for a humid climate – breathable and weather resistant, yet soft to the touch.

The interiors and layout that Natural Instinct designed for their client use warm wood with a bold grain. Outside, their inspired combinations of Tribù pieces are a cool, contemporary bridge between the family home and the dramatic forest and coastline beyond.
