Masseria Antonio Augusto by Tribù

As a boy, Antonio Augusto moved to Belgium with his family, but he promised himself he would return to his native Puglia one day. When his son, Raffaele Vetrugno, discovered an old masseria in the province of Lecce, he was able to fulfil his father’s dream – converting the masseria into an idyllic hotel and naming it after his father.

Careful restoration has created a tranquil, subtly luxurious boutique hotel. It is filled inside and out with the best Belgian contemporary design, including an inspired combination of pieces by Tribù.

‘Tribù’s style perfectly complements the contemporary design in the masseria and the authentic beauty of the old building. The luxury look and feel in the indoor and outdoor spaces is created with a mixture of Belgian design and contemporary art, which reflects the same refinement and attention to detail that the discreet luxury of Tribù stands for.’ – Raffaele Vetrugno, owner of the Masseria.

A masseria is a traditional fortified farmhouse. Belgian architect Valerie Van der Put was called in to transform the stone building into a nine-room boutique hotel and spa. Its spectacular pool is furnished with Tribù’s Kos loungers and lanterns beneath tall palm trees. A Tosca lounger and striking Pavilion daybed are grouped with CTR armchairs and a Branch table in a relaxed setting.

Tribù furniture looks equally at home inside the masseria, set against white walls, polished stone and matte travertine marble floors. In the lounge, Tribù’s Tosca sofa and club chairs in linen weave, CTR club chairs, outdoor poufs and T-table coffee table offer comfort and beautifully finished contemporary styling in subtle shades.

The dining room brings the garden indoors with tall, exotic pot plants. Mood armchairs and Vis à Vis table echo the natural theme with warm teak and cocooning woven chair backs.

The old wine cellar was converted into a minimal, restful spa – the ideal place to chill out on Tribù’s Vis à Vis loungers. Their teak frames are highly durable and resistant to humidity and the fabric covers do not absorb essential oils, creams or perfumes.

Guests can book one room at Masseria Antonio Augusto or book the whole hotel for an intimate party with family and friends, mixing style, comfort and low-key luxury.
